So far I'm happy with it.
PRO's:
Its user friendly, I like the breakout cables and the big phat dial. Its also sexy.
It has some great quality internals apparently inherited from its older brother the ensemble.
It seems well built and sturdy. I'm looking to get the carry case for it so I can look after it.
If you're using the Logic the duet couldn't be easier. You'll even find the Duet specifically mentioned in the Logic Studio Manual. They work hand in hand.
Perfect for Garage Band, Logic or any other DAW for Mac.
CONS:
The only one drama I has with it was when I was using my FW800 port with it at the same time (the Duet uses FW400). Strange crystallized noises came out. Once I unplugged my external hard drive from the FW800 port the problems went away.
On the downside, it doesn't have a Midi in/out so I have to use anothe USB port for my Midi keyboard.
Mac Only as far as I know.
Verdict
That being said, it is what it is, its not as versatile as other interfaces but it is also less complicated. It is SIMPLE, it its SEXY and produces great sound. It seems well built and from a respected manufacturer. The fact that they're conencted with Apple is reassuring as well.
The Duet is a great little bus powered (Firewire 400) interface which is portable and easy to use. Ideal for someone using Ableton Live on their MacBook Pro for instance. Buy one of these and you won't be left wanting (as long as you don't expect it to cook you breakfast.)
