Review: KRK RP-8s

When I was looking at practical/affordable studio monitors for home use I kept on hearing about KRK as a great affordable brand.

General consensus over the net was that KRK was quality and good value for money. I gave them a test drive, compared them with some other and bought the RP-8's.

I've been very happy with them over all. I compared them to the Yamaha HS80s and there was a few differences. Yamaha seemed to have a slightly more pronounced midrange and KRK seems to have slightly mor pronounced bass.

My intention was to produce house music so I wanted to make sure I was getting the bass right. I was originally going to get RP-6's and the RP-10 sub but the RP-8's represented a happy medium.

I'm a happy with them, they are loud and clear and I got them for a great price. They can easily run an indoor house party as well!

You can plug in via XLR or 1/4 inch. You can get all the specs from the website: http://www.krksys.com/products_rokit_rp8.php

I have no regrets with these I'm am very happy with them.

What's to say that you still can't boy a RP10? I have a RP8x2 and RP10 setup I am VERY fond of. Since you are producing house music I would highly recommend buying the sub, the passive crossover is GREAT and it will ensure against you having any low freq chatter. Now the sub doesn't produce super low freq and has a pretty harsh dropoff at low low freq. All in all it's the best 10inch sub I have used. BTW saying the KRKs is bassy is not true when you compare them to the cheaper competitor M-Audio BX8s. Just my 2-cents.
